What a difference a day makes! I was planning to come on today and simply share my continued thought from yesterday. But since I last wrote, I have had the privilege to discover one of God's best teachers of the Bible. The reason I am starting with this is because I now have an even deeper understanding of why a "fear of failure" makes no sense.

So here it is...I got a wood working project back in January. It was my first large order. I told the client that her table would be ready in April. I am planning to deliver it tomorrow, which is way past April. Why did it take so long? Yes, partly because it was my first time quoting a big job so I was guessing. But the biggest reason it has taken this long is because it was my first time making this table and I messed up (failed) a lot! A whole lot. It was towards the end of the project, as I looked at how beautiful it was, when it hit me what it means to fail your way to success. The thing is, the reason I failed my way to success was because I kept going after every mess up. But the thing is, the only reason I did not give up was because I couldn't. I was working for someone else so I had to keep going and figure it out. I wanted to quit. But I couldn't. 

What that process taught me was that no matter how many time I mess up, make a wrong decision or flat out fail, as long as I keep going I will win. Now, would you like to know what made me mad about discovering the meaning of the saying, "fail your way to success?" It is because it is the exact same thing as "keep trying until you get it." I've heard that all my life! But I never thought of it as me "chasing" failure or intentionally trying to fail. That wording is what had me confused. But at the same time, I believe it was God's providence that I learn it the way I learned it because I was forced to keep going when I wanted to quit which guaranteed I would see the amazing outcome. Now I understand the value if not quitting. I don't need an outside force to make me keep going...it is now on the inside.
